On October 24, 1955, the Al-Ja'ba brothers founded Al Nassr in a district of the old city. The name means victory. The crest features a stylized map of the Arabian Peninsula, where the yellow represents the desert sands; blue has accompanied it from the beginning. The club very quickly established itself among the big names of Saudi football.
Majed Abdullah, then the double Asian conquest
The 1980s belonged to Majed Abdullah. A one-club striker, from 1977 to 1998, he became the most popular figure in Saudi football of his generation and the all-time leading scorer in Al Nassr's history.
Around him, and then after him, the club lined up Fahd Al-Bishi in midfield and Mohaisen Al-Jam'an up front, both at the club from 1984 to 2000. National titles piled up, but the ambition looked further afield.
In 1998, Al Nassr won the Asian Cup Winners' Cup, followed by the Asian Super Cup. This double opened the door to the first FIFA Club World Cup, played in Brazil in January 2000. Al Nassr represented Asia there.
A club named victory could not stop at its own borders.
The yellow of the sands, the blue of the seas that border the peninsula: Al Nassr carries the Najd on its crest.
