There are clubs that you recognize by their crest. Manchester City also has a color: sky blue.

One city. One color. Generations.

Long before the modern nights at the Etihad, long before City became one of the most famous names in world football, this blue already belonged to the streets of Manchester.

It was there at Maine Road. In the Kippax. On the shoulders of the supporters who returned week after week, regardless of the division, regardless of the season.

It was there when Colin Bell strode through midfield, when Francis Lee found the back of the net, when Mike Summerbee was part of that generation that brought the league title to City at the end of the 60s. A different era, a different kind of football—but already the same blue.

Maine Road

For some generations of supporters, Manchester City does not begin at the Etihad. It begins at Maine Road. The old stands, the Kippax, the cold, the chants. The days when everything seemed possible, and the ones where nothing seemed to work.

Supporting City hasn't always meant waiting for trophies. For a long time, it simply meant coming back. Again. And again. That is perhaps precisely why some generations wear this color with such attachment: they know what it has been through.

2012. Last day of the season. Manchester City needs a goal. Then comes Agüero. A touch, a strike, and suddenly forty-four years of waiting vanish.

A new generation now has its own City memory, just like those who knew Bell, Summerbee, Lee, or Maine Road. The eras are different; the emotion, however, is passed on.

Eras change. Sky blue remains.

2026/27, always in motion

For this season, the Manchester City home kit takes the historic sky blue and sets it in motion: deeper toward the shoulders, brighter as it goes down. A gradient that makes it feel as though the color itself is evolving.

The crest shifts to a tonal monochrome and the details follow this more contemporary aesthetic. The result is different, more modern—but it only takes a second to recognize City. Because some details may change. The blue, however, remains.
