Milan, December 1899. A club is born around a table, founded by English expatriates.

Herbert Kilpin becomes its figurehead. It was he who set the red and black, and the English spelling of the city. The fascist regime would impose "Milano" in 1939; from 1945, the club returned to "Milan." Since 1926, the team has played in the northwest of Milan, in the San Siro district, on a pitch that bears the name of Giuseppe Meazza.

The club that opened Europe to Italy

1963, Wembley: Milan becomes the first Italian club to win the European Cup. Nereo Rocco on the bench, Gianni Rivera in midfield — Ballon d'Or winner in 1969, and for a long time the face of the club.

Twenty-five years later, Arrigo Sacchi rebuilt everything on a different principle: an advanced defense, Franco Baresi and Paolo Maldini at the back, Ruud Gullit, Marco van Basten, and Frank Rijkaard up front. Two consecutive European Cups, in 1989 and 1990.

Then Athens, 1994: four goals against Johan Cruyff's Barcelona, without question. As for Maldini, he would play more than twenty seasons for the same club, like his father before him.

Founded by Englishmen, Milanese forever.

The red and the black depend on very little: a city of workshops and evenings, a club that pushed Italian football beyond its borders.
