The city is one of factories, rhythmic labor, and gray winters at the foot of the Alps. The club has retained something of this: few words, a great deal of constancy. The first kits were pink. In 1903, black and white took hold. It has not changed since.
A Century of Stripes
The 1930s placed the club at the pinnacle of calcio: five consecutive titles between 1931 and 1935, with Gianpiero Combi in goal and a core of players who would go on to feature in the Italian national team.
The post-war era brought Giampiero Boniperti, John Charles, and Omar Sívori. Then came the Trapattoni years: Dino Zoff, Gaetano Scirea, and Michel Platini, who arrived in 1982 and won three consecutive Ballons d'Or in 1983, 1984, and 1985.
Alessandro Del Piero joined the club in 1993 and remained for nineteen seasons. In 1996, in Rome, Juventus won the Champions League against Ajax. Since 2011, the team has played in a stadium built for them, with no running track and the stands right up against the pitch.
In Turin, you don't play to please.
Black and white has belonged to Juventus for more than a century. To wear it is to align oneself with an ancient habit: winning without making a spectacle of it.
