Brest looks out over the harbor, the arsenal, and the Atlantic. The club represents the tip of Brittany there, far beyond its own commune.
From Breton derbies to Salzburg
The neighbors first. Guingamp, Lorient, Rennes: Brittany has enough clubs that the shortest trips are also the most intense. On November 30, 1991, Brest Armorique played its last away match at the Roudourou: a 3-2 defeat, the pitch invaded by its own supporters, players sent back to the locker rooms before the match resumed.
The club was long a stopover for players who went on to shine elsewhere. David Ginola played there from the summer of 1990 to December 1991. The Paraguayan Roberto Cabañas preceded him: arrived in January 1988, a scorer in the promotion campaign, departed for Lyon in the summer of 1990. Stéphane Guivarc'h began his career there in 1989 and discovered the first division. Franck Ribéry spent the 2003-2004 season there, before moving to Metz.
Then 2024-2025: the first European campaign in the club's history, in the Champions League. Since Francis-Le Blé did not meet UEFA standards, the European "home" matches were played at the Roudourou, in Guingamp. A club on the road, even at home. On opposing grounds, Brest won 4-0 in Salzburg, then 2-1 in Prague against Sparta.
