March 10, 2010, Santiago-Bernabéu. Round of 16 second leg against Real Madrid. Cristiano Ronaldo opens the scoring after six minutes. Miralem Pjanić equalizes in the 75th, with a strike inside the box. 1-1, and Lyon eliminates Real in Madrid.
December 7, 2011, Maksimir Stadium in Zagreb. Last day of the group stage, they have to win and score a lot. Lyon wins 7-1 against Dinamo. Bafétimbi Gomis scores four goals, including a hat-trick in eight minutes split either side of half-time. Maxime Gonalons, Lisandro López and Jimmy Briand complete the set. Qualification snatched a thousand kilometers from home.
August 15, 2020, José-Alvalade Stadium in Lisbon. Quarter-final on neutral ground, empty stands, against Manchester City. Maxwel Cornet opens the scoring in the 24th, Kevin De Bruyne responds, Moussa Dembélé scores twice late in the match. 3-1. A spot in the semi-finals snatched in a Portuguese stadium.
